Male: masked royal blue red wash superdelta, age 3 months, bred by me.
Female (sibling): masked royal blue superdelta, age 3 months, bred by me.
Both carry non red gene, so about a quarter of the fries will be non-red. I'll love to see again some MG bettas.
Introduced: 29 January 2016.
The other option was to mate the female with her father. The downside was losing the non red trait in the process, but I trusted more the father's stronger halfmoon genetic background. So the young male is out. He didn't like it.
Later he comforts himself building another nest.
New male: SD blue red wash, age unknown, unknown breeder.
Introduced: 30 January 2016.
He takes over his son nest no second thoughts given.
Spawned: 30 January 2016.
Verdict: no successful embrace. This leads to frustration and fighting. The aftermath.
She.
He.
The father is out.
The rightful heir comes to save the day. I only offered him an window of opportunity of 24 hours.
He greatly expanded the nest but they didn't spawn.
The father steps in again.
New female: masked turquoise superdelta, age 3 months, bred by me (his daughter).
Introduced: 31 January 2016.
To be continued.
7 February 2016. Two nests.
12 February 2016. Failing again.
